Director of the Department of Immunization and Vaccines of the World Health Organization Kate O'Brien opposed the ban on school attendance for children and adolescents who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to Ria.ru.
“Vaccinating children or adolescents should not be a requirement for reopening schools or attending schools. What really worries us is adult illness and risk for adults. And therefore, adults who work in schools are a priority group to be vaccinated. Children and adolescents should absolutely not be restricted from attending school based on their vaccination status," said the speaker.
The representative of the organization added that opening schools, except in the most difficult circumstances, is an essential part of the health and well-being of children and adolescents.
