Head of WHO predicts bringing COVID-19 under control
According to Izvestia, there is every reason to believe that the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic will be brought under control in the near future. This was stated by the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Ghebreyesus, Kazpravda.kz reports.
"We have the tools to bring this pandemic under control in a matter of months, if we apply them consistently and equitably,"" the WHO press service quoted Ghebreyesus as saying.
At the same time, he expressed concern over the "alarming rate" of COVID-19 spread among people aged 25 to 59 around the world.
This may be due to an increase in social confusion among young people, Gebreyesus noted.
On April 19, he said that the incidence of coronavirus infection had been growing in the world for the eighth week in a row. According to him, during this time, the organization received reports of 5.2 million cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Mortality among patients with COVID-19 has been growing for the fifth consecutive week.
