France starts vaccination of population with a third dose
France will soon begin to distribute the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to 24.kz.
The country's Supreme Medical Council made its recommendation.
"It is necessary to support the immune protection of people from risk groups, which could decrease over time if 6 months have passed after vaccination. The Supreme Medical Council recommends a third dose for people over 65 years of age, as well as those suffering from chronic diseases, if they were vaccinated more than six months ago. The procedure for revaccination will be defined. The government will present the final vaccination schedule in the next few days," said government spokesman Gabriel Attal.
Scientists are most concerned about the immune defenses of elderly residents, as well as those on dialysis, those receiving chemotherapy or transplants. They need the third dose the most. It will most likely be distributed in France as early as mid-September. At the same time, more than 40 million people, or 76% of the adult population, received the main vaccination in the country.
Meanwhile, France is still undergoing the fourth wave of the epidemic. About 21 thousand new cases are recorded every day. During the holiday season, the most critical situation was in the hospitals of the resort regions, and additional medical teams had to be sent to the resort territories of France. At the same time, scientists note, the pressure on the health care system without vaccination would be 2-3 times higher.
The country's authorities predict a further deterioration of the sanitary situation with the beginning of the school year, therefore, they have high hopes for immunization.
