Famous fashion designer Pierre Cardin has died in France, Agency France-Presse reported with reference to his family, Ria.ru reports.
According to media reports, the 98-year-old couturier died in a hospital in the suburbs of Paris.
Cardin was born in 1922 in the Italian commune of San Biagio di Callalta. He began his career as a theater artist. From the late 1940s he worked in an atelier for Christian Dior, a few years later he created his own fashion house, and later a furniture boutique in Paris.
He has patented over 500 inventions, including colored stockings, high boots, mini-sundresses, and flower-patterned ties. The Beatles performed in collarless jackets from Cardin. In addition, the designer created costumes and evening dresses for his muse - ballerina Maya Plisetskaya.
