The container ship Ever Given, which blocked traffic in the Suez Canal, has been floated, according to maritime service provider Inchcape Shipping, Ria.ru reports.
Ever Given was successfully refloated at 04:30 local time (05:30 Moscow time)," the company said on Twitter.
Bloomberg notes that it is not yet clear how soon the canal will be open to traffic. There are more than 450 different vessels in line, as the agency reports.
The container ship Ever Given the length of 400 meters and the carrying capacity of about 224 000 tons was heading from China to the Netherlands and last Tuesday ran aground on the 151th kilometer of the canal, blocking it and the traffic.
Thanks to the Suez Canal, ships can sail between Europe and Asia without skirting the African continent. The canal is 160 kilometers long, up to 250 meters wide, and up to 20 meters deep.
Blocking of the channel is costing the global economy nearly $ 10 billion a day, according to the agency.
