RK scientists developed express DNA test for individual medicine dosage selection
In the National Scientific Laboratory for Collective Use of the National Center for Biotechnology of the Science Committee under the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, developed an express DNA test was for the selection of an individual dosage of the thrombolytic drugs Warfarin and Plavix, widely prescribed in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases in Kazakhstan , Kazpravda.kz reports.
"The developed DNA test enables accurate calculation of individual drug dosage, based on genetic analysis of the patient. This significantly reduces the risk of drug overdose and excludes ineffective treatment caused by insufficient prescribed dose," the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science explained.
As noted, this test system is compatible with available equipment (real-time amplifier), which is available in any diagnostic laboratory of Kazakhstan, while in CIS similar systems operate using expensive DNA chips.
Currently, a DNA test is applied for patients undergoing treatment in Nur-Sultan hospitals. The scientists plan to establish the supply of DNA tests on an industrial scale, the press service added.
