Pilot project for 5G networks to be implemented in Kazakhstan

A pilot project for laying 5G networks will be implemented this year in Kazakhstan, correspondent quotes the Minister of Information and Communications, Dauren Abayev, as saying at the extended board meeting in the ministry.

“Mobile communications -5G open up incredible opportunities. This year we plan to implement a pilot project for testing 5G technology in Kazakhstan, after which we will determine the optimal time frame for its implementation in the country, "said Mr. Abayev.

The minister also spoke about another project – creation of an international fiber optic trunk-line connecting China and Southeast Asia with Europe through the Caspian Sea.

"This project will allow uniting the largest information exchange centers of Europe and Asia, spanning across China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Germany. Now the issue of laying the lines along the bottom of the Caspian Sea is being worked out with Azerbaijan," the minister said.
