Old Android smartphones will be disconnected from Google
Google Corporation has decided to close access to accounts for smartphones and tablets running on older versions of Android, Kazpravda.kz refers to Ria.ru informing.
"Smartphones with outdated Android versions will be denied access to Google accounts from September 27. The restrictions will involve applications such as Gmail, YouTube and Maps - users will only be left with the web version of services," the company said in a statement.
The decision will affect devices that run Android 1.0, 1.1, 1.5 Cupcake, 1.6 Donut, 2.0 Eclair, 2.2 Froyo and 2.3 Gingerbread. The most recent version of the latest (2.3.7) was released in September 2011.
Google says that the measure was taken to ensure the safety of users. Users of older devices are advised to upgrade to more relevant gadgets.
