Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, Bagdat Mussin announced the installation of equipment at the OneWeb ground station in Kazakhstan, Kazpravda.kz reports.
“In early March, I shared that we were negotiating with companies that provide satellite Internet. So, OneWeb began installing ground station equipment for testing the Internet via new generation satellites (these are non-geostationary satellites, an analogue of Starlink).
Elon Musk's companies also offered to take part in the tests. We want to provide the population of Kazakhstan with high-speed Internet in all possible ways. I will inform you about the intermediate test indicators,”Mussin promised in his Instagram account.
The global satellite network OneWeb will consist of 648 satellites in 18 orbital planes at an altitude of 1200 km. Full commissioning of the satellite network and maintenance on Kazakhstan territory is expected at the end of 2021.
