It is impractical to update KazSat satellites - Mussin
The Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Bagdat Mussin, told the plenary session in Majilis that updating the KazSat-2 and KazSat-3 satellites is impractical, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.
"In fact, KazSat-2 and KazSat-3 are 75% loaded. We see rapid developments in the space industry in terms of technology replacement. KazSat-2 and KazSat-3 are geostationary satellites, they really provide Internet, but the speed of this Internet is 10 megabits per second per point, "Mussin said.
The minister noted that today Kazakhstan is oriented towards higher satellite capacities.
“We return to the expediency of spending 58 billion tenge to replace KazSat-2. By 2024, the globe will definitely be covered with low-orbit satellite groups, which will provide Internet at the level of 200 megabits per second per point, that is, much higher than today's speed provided by our KazSat-2 and KazSat-3, "he explained.
