5G networks will cover Kazakhstan by 2025. Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Orazbek told about this, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“We are ready, the operators are also ready. This year it is planned to launch a 5G network in a pilot mode in the capital. By the end of 2022, we plan to launch a 5G network in cities of republican significance. By 2025, we plan to cover all regional centers”, - Askhat Orazbek said.
He noted that currently a draft law has been launched that will allow the allocation of frequencies for 5G through tenders or auctions, which will significantly liberalize the market and allow operators to distribute them on a competitive basis.
"In addition, there are norms to combat frequency ownership - when someone buys a frequency, pays money for it, but does not use it. And frequencies are a limited resource. According to one of the norms, if the frequency is not used for two years, we are withdrawing it. We think that operators will use these networks effectively," the vice minister concluded.
