GGG Promotions managing director Tom Leffler shared information about the next fight of the former world middleweight champion in the WBA (Super), IBC and IBF versions Gennady Golovkin, Sports.kz reports.
It was previously mentioned that the fight will take place at the New York Madison Square Garden on June 8th. Leffler confirmed that Golovkin plans to hold his next fight in the New York, but has not yet specified the date and name of the opponent.
At the same time, it became known that the short-list of potential rivals of Kazakhstani boxer Gennady Golovkin for the next fight lost one fighter.
Golovkin will definitely not fight with British boxer John Ryder (27-4, 15 KOs) nicknamed "Gorilla" - in June - he officially fights with Canadian David Lemieux (40-4, 34 KOs), their fight will become a co-main event of the fight Saul Alvarez - Daniel Jacobs May 4 in Las Vegas.
Thus, Golovkin has five opponents left, two of them look the most likely - Frenchman Hassan Ndam Njikam (37-3, 21 KOs) and Canadian boxer Steve Rolls (19-0, 10 KOs).
Earlier in the foreign press they wrote about three other candidates - American Brandon Adams (21-2, 13 KOs), Pole Camil Sheremet (19-0, 4 KOs) and WBO world champion Demetrius Andrade (27-0, 17 KOs) - however, the last one was the least likely and most risky for Gennady.
