UEFA recommends Kazakhstan to complete football season
Task groups of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have presented various versions of the tournament calendar projects for official continental competitions previously suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, Vesti.kz reports citing the KFF official website.
The meeting was held in the form of a video conference with participation of UEFA President Alexander Cheferin and Secretary General of the Union of European Football Associations Theodore Theodoridis. Secretary General of Kazakhstan Football Federation Azamat Aitkhozhin took part in the meeting.
The forum examined conclusions of two task groups that were formed to seek best solutions for holding European football tournaments after the outbreak of COVID-19.
First of all, calendar options for official competitions held among professional club and national teams, providing for various implementation periods, were presented.
Along with this, further implementation of projects for the development of national associations as part of the HatTrick material assistance program was discussed.
An urgent recommendation was made to finish the tournament season in the championships of the top divisions and national cup competitions. At the same time, representatives of UEFA announced their understanding of the possibility of exceptional cases remaining so far.
In order to assist national associations in the event of canceling domestic competitions, the situation will be regulated by the Guidelines for the distribution of vouchers for European Cups currently being drafted.
Formal decisions on the topics addressed at the meeting will be made public after the meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee scheduled for next Thursday.
