Kazakhstan's first middleweight boxer Kanat Islam (25-0, 20 KOs) announced the date of his return to the ring after a long break, Vesti.kz reports.
"I spoke with the team. We decided to start the training process. I plan my return in July. I want to fight in Almaty and dedicate it to the Day of Astana," Islam said.
Recall that Islam has not entered the ring since September 9, 2017, when in Astana in the ninth round of the fight for regional belts of the first middleweight WBO NABO and WBA NABA knocked out Canadian Brandon Cook (20-2, 13 KOs). His next fight was scheduled for June 23 in Los Angeles, but the Kazakhstani injured his leg and canceled the fight.
Islam recently announced his return to the ring this spring, but the preparation was postponed. Now Islam’s profile on BoxRec is inactive; the WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF have excluded him from the ratings. Nevertheless, the boxer said that he did not even think about the completion of his career and plans to be in boxing until he turns 40.
