President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that in conditions of a shortage of funds, it makes no sense to maintain professional sports clubs at the state expense, Kazpravda.kz reports.
"It is necessary to pay attention to the sports and creative potential of the younger generation. In conditions of a financial deficit, it makes no sense to support professional sports clubs entirely at the state expense. Billions of tenge from the state budget and quasi-public companies are spent inefficiently. Priority should be given to grassroots sports, physical education and children", - said Tokayev, speaking with the Address to the people of Kazakhstan at a joint meeting of the Houses of Parliament.
According to the President, sports clubs should be opened in every region and city, and the activities of children's clubs should be resumed.
"Modern realities are so dangerous for children that their energy and curiosity need to be focused on the right direction. Children are the future of our state. We will evaluate the work of akims by this criterion," Tokayev summed up.
Earlier, the Head of State said that 25% of the employees of the state apparatus are planned to be reduced in Kazakhstan during 2020-2021.
