Working days of railway men to be reduced from Sept 1

The KTZh assures that these measures do not affect social policy.
In order to prevent job losses the leadership of JSC "NC" KTZh" and the Central Board of the NGO "Kazakhstan Industry Workers' Union of railway, road, air and water transport" consider introduction of part-time work from September 1 this year, reports.

"In connection with a reduction in the volume of turnover associated with the deterioration of the pricing environment for major export commodities, the slowdown in the economy in the region, a decrease in exports in the first half by 22.4% the company holds a number of anti-crisis measures. In particular, they optimize the budget expenditures, decrease purchase of materials, fuel and energy resources, the volume of repairs and maintenance, general and administrative costs. "This measure is regarded as the most optimal aimed at the preservation of all jobs", - stated in a press release.

It is expected that the staff will work on a rotating schedule, and instead of five working days the workers will have four working days with one day-off during a week.

Currently, the heads of departments of roads, subdivisions, branches and subsidiaries are tasked to discuss the introduction of part-time working as an alternative to ensure the continuity of the production process.

At the same time, the national company confirmed that the proposed measures will not affect social policy, i.e. the budget of social payments this year remains at the level of 2014; employees are provided with health insurance benefits, material assistance for rail travel, and others.
