“The Ministry is carrying out systematic work to change the three-letter code of the airport of Nur-Sultan. Thus, October 14 this year in Warsaw (Poland) the IATA Passenger Standards Meeting was held with the participation of all IATA members, during which Kazakhstan’s initiative was supported to amend the IATA Resolution 763, which will provide an opportunity to change the three-letter code of the airport of Nur-Sultan (TSE)," the statement said.
According to the agency, several options for the new code of the capital's airport are currently being considered and the final version is under discussion.
The procedure for amending Resolution 763 requires a certain amount of time and the entry into force of the amendments is expected in January 2020. After that, IATA will approve the final version of the code.
