There can be no waiting lists for free apartments - Nazarbayev
from open sources
Delivering in Akorda the annual state-of-the-nation address, Nursultan Nazarbayev re-emphasized that there can be no free apartments under a market economy, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.
"Once again for all, for the whole country to hear, I say: the world has changed, we have a market economy; the state does not give apartments to anyone for free. It can help with loans and benefits, but there can be no waiting lists for a free apartment anywhere. They are useless, "President said.
It is necessary, he went on to say, to increase the construction of rental housing for socially disadvantaged population in large cities.
Nazarbayev also proposed building multi-storey houses for the people resettled from single-industry towns and villages.
“The Soviet past has left us mono-towns. Now it’s inexpedient to spend big money on such villages and towns, to build schools there. Urbanization cannot be stopped and new approaches are required to the territorial development of the country,” Nazarbayev said.
