Sanatorium director suspected of stealing money allocated for children with cancer

The director of the Alatau Children's Clinical Sanatorium is suspected of embezzling money that was intended to buy food for children with cancer, Kazpravda.kz correspondent quotes Daniyar Bigaidarov, an investigator of the anti-corruption Agency, as saying.
According to him, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted against the director of the Alatau children's clinical sanatorium of the RK Ministry of Health.
He also said that the final decision on the degree of guilt of the detained suspect will be made by the court.
"It is alleged that in the period from 2015 to 2021, abusing her official powers, in order to extract benefits for herself, she had embezzled funds in an especially large amount, which are payments from parents of children undergoing rehabilitation under programs of guaranteed volume of free medical care and compulsory social health insurance, for accommodation, meals and treatment in the indicated institution," the press service of the Agency added.
Earlier, the Ombudsman for the Rights of the Child in Kazakhstan, Aruzhan Sain, spoke about the theft in the children's clinical sanatorium Alatau of the Health Ministry.
"According to the information I have, the director of the sanatorium Kanshayym Musayeva and her subordinates annually committed theft of funds. Receiving payment for accommodation, meals and treatment from the parents of the children, they embezzled money - instead of bringing it into the budget, which could not but tell negatively on the conditions of maintenance and treatment of the patients. In addition, in the sanatorium there were facts of illicit sale of groceries intended for children, "Aruzhan Sain said.
