Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the Ulytau-2019 International Tourism Forum, Kazpravda.kz cites the Akorda press service reporting.
Addressing the forum, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the historical significance and sacredness of Ulytau for the Kazakh people, its great potential for the development of ethnographic, pilgrimage and ecological tourism.
“Respecting the historical heritage of Ulytau is a shared responsibility for all of us. We should think about new ways to popularize the rich heritage of our country in the world. For example, Mongolia is aptly using the personality of Genghis Khan to develop international tourism. Today, many in the country and abroad do not know that the grave of Genghis Khan's eldest son - Jochi - is on Kazakh soil. It is necessary to draw the foreign tourists’ attention to his historical personality and make the mausoleum a place of attraction. Ulytau should become the center of ethno tourism of international level ", - Tokayev said.
He shared his vision of creating attractive places in Kazakhstan for foreign and domestic tourists, as well as the development of ethno-tourism.
"Many foreign tourists have long been fed up with universal things - five-star hotels and resorts. Their interest lies in studying the culture, customs and traditions of different nations, getting to know the history of the host country. Hence the demand for visiting original places, participating in historical festivals and reconstruction of the most important events of bygone days. We must make use of such trends, because Kazakhstan has something to offer the world, "the President said, pointing out the importance of training professionals for tourism industry, creating the necessary transport and logistics infrastructure in the region and attracting business for the construction of guest houses, catering and recreation centers in all the recreational areas of Kazakhstan.
The President expressed confidence that the sacred objects of Ulytau would become places of attraction for Kazakhstanis and foreign tourists.
