Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev arrived in East Kazakhstan region to outreach on the main tasks set by the President in the state-of-the-nation address " "Promoting wellbeing of Kazakhstanis: rise of incomes and improving quality of life," Kazpravda.kz reports citing the press service of the Head of the Government.
In Semey, the main directions of the President’s Address will be discussed at a meeting with activists and representatives of the public: raising income levels, improving the quality of education and healthcare, and affordability of accommodation. A number of industrial and social facilities will also be visited in the region.
In Semey, the first stopover, The Prime Minister inspected reconstruction of the runway and the air terminal. As East Kazakhstan region’s governor Danial Akhmetov reported, the upgraded airport will be able to increase flights and their safety level.
Reconstruction of the airport began in December 2016 under the state programme Nurly Zhol and is to end this year. The project includes the repair of the runway, taxiways and apron, as well as the terminal building. From September 2 of the current year, the runway has been receiving An-24 aircraft on the routes Ust-Kamenogorsk-Semey-Urdzhar, Semey-Almaty, Semey-Astana.
