Kazakhstan ranks 70th in the world in terms of the number of deaths from coronavirus infection. This was announced by the Health Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aleksey Tsoi at a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazpravda.kz reports.

"As of today, August 11, 100 164 patients have been registered in Kazakhstan, 25 171 of them are receiving treatment, 73 702 were discharged, or 73.6 percent. The indicator of the reproductive rate of infection or the number of people infected by 1 patient, before the introduction of strict restrictive measures, was 1,72", - said the minister.

According to him, after the introduction of quarantine, there is a steady downward trend in the reproductive rate, which has almost halved, that is, to 0.82.

"Today Kazakhstan ranks 37th in coverage of PCR diagnostics. Of course, this has changed the incidence rate in the country, the number of registered cases has increased - today Kazakhstan is in 43rd place in the world", - added Tsoi.

He noted that the timely isolation of identified patients, coverage of patients with outpatient and inpatient treatment, as well as the monitoring of contact persons made it possible to restrain the disease incidence, control patients
in critical condition.

"Thanks to timely diagnostics, Kazakhstan is on the 70th place for deaths from COVID-19," the minister concluded.
