Kazakhstan must maintain control over defense-industrial enterprises - senators
In a deputy request addressed to the Prime Minister of the country Askar Mamin, Senators Askar Shakirov and Sergey Ershov outlined problems related to the situation with the privatization of some state facilities that ensure the safety of the population and territory of our country, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The deputies noted that the Head of State in his Address instructed the Government to adopt a new privatization plan. In this regard, the parliamentarians proposed to initiate legislative amendments, according to which the privatization of any organizations affecting the country's defense-industrial potential should take place with the preservation of the state's share or the buyout of the “golden share” of such organizations.
“Privatization is undoubtedly aimed at reducing state participation in the economy and improving the situation in troubled companies. At the same time, we believe that it is necessary for the state to assess, monitor and manage the risks of privatization of state-owned enterprises and the participation of the state in organizations that directly ensure the safety of its citizens and the system as a whole,” the senators voiced their position.
In this regard, the Senate deputies asked the Head of Government to comprehensively consider the possibility of diversifying the portfolio of privatized enterprises, as well as the need to improve the legal regulation of this process.
