Every fourth worker in Kazakhstan works in harmful conditions
In Kazakhstan, every fourth worker works in hazardous conditions, Kazpravda.kz correspondent quotes the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan, Berdibek Saparbayev, as saying at the IX Kazakhstan International Conference KIOSH-2019 (Kazakhstan International Occupational Safety and Health conference.
"In Kazakhstan, about 373 thousand workers at present are working in hazardous conditions, i.e. every fourth. To address the problem, favorable conditions have to be created in the workplace, and it is important to provide timely training for workers. As for occupational diseases, about 500 cases are registered in Kazakhstan. Through insurance agencies and by creating the necessary working conditions, measures are taken, but the problem remains, "said Saparbayev.
According to him, industrial injuries are decreasing every year in the republic.
"Every year in our country industrial injuries decrease by about 80 percent. But there are still cases. I can give an example: in the last year alone there were about 1.5 thousand accidents. Unfortunately, 220 people died. We should continue to work on maximizing injuries. Technology and innovations can help. An industrial revolution called Industry 4.0 has been going on for the second year to replace outdated its equipment and to create a safe working environment, "- said the Minister.
It is worth noting that this year over 40 companies of Kazakhstan, China, Russia and Turkey presented their products at the KIOSH-2019 Conference.
"It was the ninth exhibition. Over this time, more than 400 enterprises and companies from 10 countries took part in its work, about 10 thousand people visited it. We will continue to hold them, especially now when there is a new technology, artificial intelligence is being applied. We have to be prepared for various challenges and risks. But first of all, we need to ensure the safety of our employees," Saparbayev added.
