It is planned to make special bus lanes on 15 roads in the capital, the total length of 42.3 km, Kazpravda.kz refers to the press service of the city akimat reporting.
The goal of the "Bus Lane" project is to create conditions for convenient passenger travel and to prioritize public transport. In addition, emergency services (ambulance, fire brigade) are entitled to use a special lane.
Currently, there are 21 bus lanes in Nur-Sultan with a length of 51 kilometers; the number of sole users of public transport exceeds 550 000 (46% of the capital's population).
"The expansion of the allocated lanes will stimulate public transport development in the future, reduce bus travel time by 14%. In addition, in the future, this will reduce the shortage of buses due to the optimal reallocation of schedules. In total, the bus lanes will cover 23% of the route network. From the list of sections to be introduced, it is necessary to single out Kabanbay Batyr Avenue, as the most important transport artery for suburban and urban routes," said the board chairman of the City Transportation Systems LLP Bekmyrza Igenberdinov.
