180 people died at Kazakhstan enterprises in 2019

180 people died at the enterprises of Kazakhstan last year, Kazpravda.kz refers to the report of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.
“According to 2019 results, 1,257 accidents happened at the enterprises of the republic, in which 1,430 people were injured, which is 8.8% lower than in 2018 (1,568 people in 2018), of which 180 accidents were fatal , which is 17.6% less than in 2018 (in 2018 - 220 people),” the report says.
In terms of economy sectors, the largest number of casualties is recorded at the enterprises of the mining and metallurgical complex - 244 or 17.1% and in the construction industry - 176 or 12.3%.
A high level of occupational injuries remains in East Kazakhstan (212 people were injured), Karaganda (189 people), Pavlodar (117 people), Kostanay (114 people) and Almaty (111 people).
According to the Ministry, the most frequent violations in the labor protection are: non-provision of safe working conditions - 14.9% (353); failure to train and instruct employees - 14.3% (340); failure to provide personal and collective protective equipment, special clothing and special footwear - 10.1% (238).
Most accidents were caused by: exposure to moving, rotating objects (199 or 13.9%); fall of the victim from a height (171 or 11.9%); collapse, falling objects, materials (152 or 10.6%).
"In 2019, state labor inspectors conducted 9 536 inspections, in which 2 366 violations were identified. 480 orders were issued to eliminate labor and labor safety violations and 203 administrative fines were imposed in the amount of 25.6 million tenge. 879 applications of legal entities and individuals were examined on safety and labor protection, 1,276 special investigations of industrial accidents were conducted, "the press service added.
The measures taken by state bodies and employers in labor protection helped maintain a positive trend in reducing occupational injuries. In order to reduce the number of jobs with harmful working conditions, 2,187 production facilities were certified in 2019.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection noted that 14,792 production councils were established at the enterprises, whose tasks include prevention of industrial injuries, as well as organization of checks of working conditions at workplaces.
