Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the metropolitan modular infectious diseases hospital, built within two weeks in a state of emergency in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.
The total area of the medical institution is 7 thousand square meters. 5.5 billion tenge was allocated for its construction from the republican budget. The contractor was the group of companies of BI Group holding.
The clinic, designed for 200 beds, is equipped with modern means of ensuring the safety of medical staff and patients.
During the visit, the President heard information from the Minister of Health, Yelzhan Birtanov, on the current epidemiological situation and ways to improve anti-infection medical care.
The Head of State examined the medical units and rooms, provided with all necessary equipment for treating patients. The chairman of the board of directors of the BI Group construction holding Aydin Rakhimbayev told about the progress of construction work and the features of the hospital.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that this hospital is the first medical institution of this type in the country and expressed appreciation to the builders for its construction.
In a conversation with doctors, the President thanked them for their dedicated work for the good of the health of Kazakhstanis.
"You are on the front line of the fight against the pandemic. We are very grateful to you. You work day and night. Unfortunately, we did not save the doctors in Almaty. We are now working to liquidate the emergency. Therefore, I ask you to be careful and, above all, take care of yourself," said the Head of State.
According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the main task facing the state is the preservation of the health of citizens. In his opinion, only a healthy nation can safely get out of the current crisis.
“We need to think about economic development, small and medium-sized businesses. I’ll talk about this in more detail in my television address next week,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
In the conversation with doctors, the President talked on the issue of reforming the system of sanitary-epidemiological service.
In turn, the doctors expressed gratitude to the state and the President for the support. They also raised the question of raising the salaries of infectious disease doctors.
“Now we are consolidating all budgetary funds. You must understand that the markets traditional for Kazakhstan have fallen. We are not receiving the serious amounts to the budget. But even in these difficult financial conditions, we will not disregard your request,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
