President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the online informal summit of the Turkic-speaking states’ Cooperation Council, refers to the press service of Akorda reporting.

“We planned to hold this meeting in the sacred for all of us Turkestan. But in view of the pandemic, it was decided to hold it online.

In his speech, Tokayev noted that for all Turkic peoples, Turkestan is the land of the fathers, a blessed place and home. It is known that our ancestors received spiritual knowledge here from the great teacher Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and spread the Turkic-Islamic culture in the world.

"Our goal is to turn the Turkic world into one of the most important economic, cultural and humanitarian regions of the 21st century. We call to start modernization of the Turkic civilization from presenting to the world the heritage of Yasawi and sacred Turkestan. Therefore, today's summit is held under the slogan" Turkestan is the spiritual capital of the Turkic world, " Tokayev emphasized, adding that on the initiative of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the city of Turkestan was radically transformed and acquired a new look.

The President of Kazakhstan especially noted that despite the whole world’s grappling with unprecedented challenges, cooperation of the Turkic-speaking states did not slow down. In this difficult time, the states need to jointly look for new impulses to strengthen relations.

The only sure way to stop the pandemic is mass vaccination. It is of common interest to support each other and share experiences.

Problems of health care and biosafety are of particular relevance in the current situation.

"At the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, Kazakhstan initiated creation of the International Agency for Biological Safety. I am sure you will support this idea. Undoubtedly, in the future, the Agency will contribute to the prevention of biological threats and the exchange of data on dangerous diseases," the President said.

"One of the main tasks for our countries is to enhance trade. In this regard, I would like to note ample investment, trade and economic opportunities of Turkestan, historically located at the crossroads. Given its vast resource base, human capital and tourism potential, I propose to create in Turkestan region a special economic zone uniting the Turkic countries, "the President suggested.

He also focused on water issue in the region that can cause serious problems, and suggested implementing joint projects on the construction of hydraulic structures.

The President urged to accelerate the work on creation of the Turkic Investment and Integration Fund, proposing to place its headquarters in the Astana International Financial Center.

Kazakhstan, he announced, is ready to allocate 50 grants for training youth of fraternal countries under the bachelor program at the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. These grants will be called the Yasawi scholarship.

The city of Turkestan, the foundation of which was laid in the Middle Ages, has not yet been fully studied from the viewpoint of archeology and science as a whole, he went on to say.

"It is very important that TURKSOY and the Turkic Academy pay special attention to the conduct of archaeological research in Turkestan region. In addition, it will be good if we build a common architectural object in Turkestan, symbolizing the friendship and unity of the Turkic peoples," the President offered.
