Tokayev launched new polymetallic enrichment plant in Karaganda rgn
In the teleconference mode, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev launched a new polymetallic plant at the Zhairem mining and processing plant in the Karaganda region, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
About 2,500 people took part in the construction of the processing plant. For Zhairem, the launch of the project means a new life, major development prospects. The mining and processing complex is expected to become a major producer of zinc and lead concentrates in Kazakhstan. The production will employ 400 people.
Akim of the Karaganda region Zhenis Kasymbek told the Head of State about the significance of this project for the region. The new factory will expand the range of products; the production volume will increase 2.5 times to 5 million tons. The export of processed products will also increase; tax revenues will increase by 1.5 billion tenge. From the beginning of this project, the investor was provided with the maximum practical assistance. Thanks to well-organized work, even in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, the project was completed on time.
The President was informed that today 50 large investment projects worth more than 2 trillion tenge are being implemented in the Karaganda region. This year, 14 projects are being launched; the volume of investments in the infrastructure of industrial enterprises in the region will amount to 230 billion tenge.
The general director of Kazzinc LLP, Alexander Khmelev, told Kassym-Jomart Tokayev that the factory was built in 3 years, and even the coronavirus pandemic did not interfere with the task. According to him, the launch of the processing plant will become a milestone not only in the development of Zhairem, but also in the entire Karaganda region. It will process 5 million tons of ore per year. This allows to speak about a stable workload of the enterprise for at least 15 years.
Implementing the production project, the Kazzinc company invested almost 5 billion tenge in the development of the village. Modern equipment has been purchased for a local hospital, a competency development center has been created, and funds are allocated annually for the maintenance and development of the communal sector.
The head of the Zhairem GOK workshop, Yerkyn Shaikhin, thanked the Head of State for the support and noted that now the village has revived, positive transformations are underway, and local residents pin great hopes on the launch of the new factory.
At the end of the event, the President expressed his gratitude and wished labor success to the staff of the enterprise and to everyone who participated in the implementation of this large-scale project.
