President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting on problematic issues of the epidemiological situation in the country, Kazpravda.kz refers to the Akorda press service reporting.

Prime Minister Askar Mamin said that after the introduction of tight quarantine measures from July 5 this year, there had been a 29% decrease in registered cases. The number of infected people stabilized at the level of 1500-1600 per day. The workload of hospitals fell by 43%, including the intensive care wards - by 27%. The number of those who recovered increased to 63%, the number of ambulance calls reduced. Thus, the main indicators of the burden on the health care system have been reduced.

Askar Mamin also briefed the President on the ongoing daily monitoring of the situation in the regions on such key indicators as morbidity and mortality, the availability and quality of medical care, the level of testing of the population, provision of medicines and equipment for intensive care and intensive care units.

Health Minister Alexei Tsoi accounted on approaches to the phased mitigation of quarantine measures, taking into account the impact of infrastructure facilities on the epidemiological situation and the economy.

The President stressed the critical importance of further reducing the incidence and mortality rates from coronavirus infection.

In order to further consolidate the positive effect of the restrictive measures introduced in July and given the possible complication of the epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan and neighboring states, Tokayev instructed the State Commission to extend the quarantine measures for two weeks, with subsequent stepwise mitigation.
