President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Defense Minister, Nurlan Ermekbayev, Kazpravda.kz refers to the Akorda press service reporting.
The President, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, heard the report of the Defense Minister on the course of combat and operational training of the armed forces, directions of the Kazakh army development.
Nurlan Yermekbayev briefed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the work of military medical hospitals in receiving patients infected with the COVID-19 virus, on the disinfection work carried out in 10 cities of the country and the interaction of Kazakhstan military doctors with their Russian colleagues who arrived in Kazakhstan.
As a separate block, the minister reported on the development of the Concept for the construction and development of the Armed Forces.
Tokayev pointed out the need to factor in the financial and economic capabilities of the state when planning development of the Kazakh army.
In this context, the Defense Minister noted that when developing the Concept at the first stage in order to save budget funds, the emphasis was made on optimizing the organizational structure, the number of military units and military infrastructure, the rational use of ammunition and military equipment.
Tokayev was informed about the completed conscription to the military service.
He underscored the need for planned rearmament, upgrade of the army, introduction of automation and digitalization elements, including in the activities of military enlistment offices. In his opinion, special attention should be paid to strengthening military discipline and combating corruption.
The Supreme Commander ordered to work out the issue of sending military medics to Lebanon to provide assistance to victims of the explosion in the port of Beirut.
The need for constant combat readiness of dual-use components, in particular the services and forces that can be involved in the elimination of man-made and natural emergencies, as well as in the fight against biological and chemical threats, was noted.
