Main work areas identified - Tokayev on coop with Switzerland

Following the talks in Akorda with the President of Switzerland, Uli Maurer, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that the main areas of work to develop cooperation between Kazakhstan and Switzerland had been identified, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.
“Our countries have common goals on regional and global issues. I note this with great satisfaction. We agreed to continue to join efforts for work at the international level. Our country has a strong tradition of succession in its foreign policy course. Kazakhstan pursues multi-vector policy and is actively participating in the processes of peace and stability, provides a platform for the Astana process on Syria, which complements the Geneva process,” said the President of Kazakhstan.
During the talks, Tokayev praised the humanitarian component of Swiss foreign policy, saying that Switzerland was one of the initiators of the adoption in September 2015 of the UN sustainable development goals, and it provides multimillion-dollar assistance to civilians in conflict zones.
“Today, our relations are at a high level and are successfully developing. In this, our opinions coincided with President Ueli Maurer. We determined the main directions for the upcoming joint work. The centuries-old traditions of democracy and the multi-party system of Switzerland, the official foreign policy of Berne are recognized by our country and the whole world.” - Tokayev added.
He said that Kazakhstan sees Switzerland as one of the leading partners in Europe, especially in the economic sphere. Switzerland is a country with a powerful innovative industry, developed agriculture, it is the main financial and banking center of the world, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev added.
