Delivering his first State-of-the-Nation Address at the joint session of the Parliament chambers, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to clean up the public procurements, correspondent reports.

“In 2018, the state procurements amounted to 4.4 trillion tenge, of which 75% (3.3 trillion tenge) were carried out in a non-competitive way from one source. It is time to close this “feeding trough” for officials and “hangers-on,” the President said.

He also detailed on the implementation of the Nurly Zhol state program.

“A full and high-quality implementation of the Nurly Zhol program is needed. It is a strategic project involving the entire transport infrastructure. For this end, the state will allocate more than 1 trillion 200 billion tenge of investments through to 2022. The government allocated huge amounts of money before, but most of that “slipped through a crack”," or rather, slipped into the pockets of officials. However, clean water, roads and infrastructure are still insufficient,” Tokayev said.

The Government and Parliament, together with the Accounts Committee were instructed to ensure absolute efficiency of the budget funds use.
