"It is simply absurd" - President on beating a seal in Aktau
At an extended meeting of the Government, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, spoke about the egregious facts of maltreatment of animals in the country, in particular, the latest case of beating of a Caspian seal in Aktau, Kazpravda.kz reports.
“Recently there was an incident in Aktau of the Mangistau region; they beat seals with stones and sticks. It’s simply absurd. On the other hand, blaming children and teenagers also makes no sense, because no one explained to them at school and especially at home that they can’t do this. I’m not talking about the cases when dogs are strangled; live puppies are burned, etc. I think that Minister Aymagambetov (Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aymagambetov – editor’s note) should think about it," said the Head of State.
Recall that on the coast of the Caspian Sea, vacationers mauled the Caspian seal with sticks and stones. Everything that happened was filmed on a video that was posted on social networks.
According to the witness, a group of adults noticed a seal near the shore and began to beat it with sticks and stones: “This was done just for fun, to take pictures and show the seal to the children. After that, they threw it back into the sea. Whether it survived, unfortunately, I do not know".
On the eve it became known that the police found those who beat the seal, a criminal case was initiated.
