"Absolutely transparent" - Tokayev on elections of rural akims
The head of state, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, met with the newly elected akims of the villages of the Akmola region, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The President noted that the direct election of heads of villages, towns of regional significance and rural districts is an important historical event that marks a new stage of political modernization.
“Indeed, this is the first time in our history that such elections have taken place. Absolutely transparent, fair. No claims, first of all, from our people. There were no such elections. We do not hold elections to please someone, we hold elections to improve life,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The head of state believes that these elections provide villagers with new opportunities to fully use their potential and develop settlements.
The President noted the good pre-election work of the elected akims, congratulated them and wished them success. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed hope that they will do everything possible to justify the trust of citizens.
In turn, the new akims expressed gratitude to the Head of State for implementation of his initiative and the opportunity to work for the good of the country and their village.
Earlier it was reported that the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived on a working trip to Kokshetau, Akmola region.
