During the discussion in Majilis of amendments to the Treaty on the Joint Collegium of Customs Services of the Member States of the Customs Union, Majilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin resented the fact that today, within the framework of the Joint Collegium of Customs Services, 9 of 10 working groups are headed by representatives of the Russian Federation and only one – by Kazakhstan’s representative, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.
As the deputy Guldara Nurymova noted, the overwhelming majority of the leadership of the working groups by representatives of Russia can negatively tell on upholding of Kazakhstan interests.
Finance Minister Yerulan Zhamaubayev confirming the fact, said:
“It happened so historically, since the secretariat of the Joint Collegium of Customs Services is headquartered in Moscow, and it provides the activities of the collegium, secretariat and working groups. But in working groups all decisions are made by consensus, when they are submitted to the collegium, each country has a vote and decisions are adopted by consensus. During the existence of the structure, for decades, no questions have arisen, "the minister said.
This answer did not satisfy Nurlan Nigmatulin, and he insisted on the need to seek a change in the current situation.
