Mamin met with Finnish Foreign Trade Minister

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin held a meeting with Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Deputy of the Parliament of Finland, Ville Skinnari, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the RK PM’s press service.
The parties discussed the outlook for bilateral cooperation development in trade-economic, investment, energy, transport and logistics areas, education, healthcare, digitalization, development of a green economy and environmental protection.
Over the past 15 years, Finland has invested $ 366 million in the economy of Kazakhstan. In this year Q1bilateral trade turnover went 3.4 times up on-year, amounting to $ 111.2 million.
The PM noted the presence of vast potential for further increasing the volume of bilateral trade and implementation of joint investment projects in digital technologies, agro-industrial complex, waste processing and development of green economy.
In 2020, despite the pandemic, the volume of railroad transportation of goods in containers on the Finland-China route in transit through the territory of Kazakhstan reached 5.2 thousand TEUs, which is 11% more on-year. In this year Q1this indicator increased by 10%, amounting to 738 TEU.
The meeting was attended by the ministers of ecology, geology and natural resources Magzum Mirzagaliyev, digital development, innovation and aerospace industry - Bagdat Mussin, industry and infrastructure development - Beibut Atamkulov, as well as the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Finland Zhanna Sartbayeva.
Within the framework of Ville Skinnari's visit to Kazakhstan, a protocol of the 11th meeting of the Kazakh-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission was signed, providing for cooperation enhancement in such areas as trade, finance, energy, transport, agro-industrial complex, education, healthcare, rational use of forest and water resources.
In addition, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KaukoInternational Oy Ltd and the Kazakh-Finnish Technological Center, providing for development of cooperation in ecology, forestry and fishery, waste processing and water resources management.
