A joint statement of members of Kazakhstan People’s Assembly on the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh has been published, Kazpravda.kz reports.
"We, members of Kazakhstan People’s Assembly, are deeply concerned about the exacerbation of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh. We are especially concerned about information from the media about possible casualties among the civilian population. We consider any form of military solution to problems unacceptable when lives, health, and peaceful life of ordinary citizens, including the elderly, women and children are under attack, "the statement reads.
KPA members called on both parties for a ceasefire and a political solution to the conflict at the negotiating table.
“It is painful to realize that the blood of our kinsmen is shed somewhere. We call on all ethnic groups of Kazakhstan to unite even more closely and speak out loudly against any kind of violence and hate. We must not allow any of us to succumb to momentary emotions, false information, provocations. Only the voice of peace, kindness, mutual respect, is now most needed by all of us - both here and in Nagorno-Karabakh, and wherever our ethnic groups live side by side peacefully, "the statement says.
