Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi took part in a regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO CFM) under the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan. Before the meeting, the SCO foreign ministers were received by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Kazpravda.kz refers to Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry’s press office reporting.
During the Ministerial Council meeting, the heads of the SCO countries’ foreign offices tallied up the Organization's results over 20 years and discussed the most pressing issues of the international and regional agenda. The priority tasks of further development of the SCO activities and interaction of the Organization with other multilateral structures were considered.
M. Tleuberdi noted the role and importance of the SCO in strengthening international security and regional cooperation.
The Foreign Ministers of India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan approved the preparations for the upcoming meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council in September 2021 in Dushanbe, and also approved the draft Dushanbe Declaration and other final resolutions of the anniversary Summit.
The meeting resulted in the adoption of an Information Statement by the SCO Foreign Ministers.
On the same day, a meeting of the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group was held at the foreign ministers level, which discussed the current military-political situation in the IRA and further cooperation between the SCO and Afghanistan. The meeting of the SCO Contact Group with Afghanistan adopted a Joint Statement of the SCO Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
On the sidelines of the event, M. Tleuberdi held bilateral talks with Pakistan Foreign Minister Mahmood Qureshi. The parties discussed strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation.
