Ashimbayev met with head of National Council of Swiss Federal Assembly

Maulen Ashimbayev met with the head of the National Council of the Federal Assembly of the Swiss Confederation Andreas Aebi, Kazpravda.kz refers to the press service of Kazakhstan Senate reporting.
The Senate speaker expressed confidence that the visit of the Swiss delegation to our country will give a new impetus to mutually beneficial cooperation, and stressed that Switzerland is an important political and economic partner of Kazakhstan in Europe.
“Next year will be 30th since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. During this time, an active political dialogue has been established, bilateral trade is successfully developing, and joint investment projects are implemented,” Maulen Ashimbaev said.
A wide range of issues related to trade-economic, social and humanitarian cooperation were discussed. Ashimbaev said that Kazakhstan and Switzerland hold similar positions on global problems of our time and successfully interact not only bilaterally, but also within multilateral structures. At the same time, the Senate speaker stressed the importance of further development and strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties and activation of the work of cooperation groups in the Parliaments of Kazakhstan and Switzerland.
“We are interested in the Swiss experience of parliamentarism, development of multi-party system and pluralism of opinions in our country. This is important for the stability of the political system in the long term,” the Senate speaker said.
Maulen Ashimbayev informed Andreas Aebi about the Senate activities, including the work on legal-framing of reforms and initiatives of the President of the country aimed at democratizing the political system. In addition, the prospects for interregional cooperation and measures taken by Kazakhstan to combat the spread of coronavirus were discussed.
