Poacher with sturgeons fish detained on Irtysh River

A poacher with fish of valuable species was detained on the Irtysh River, Kazpravda.kz refers to the Ecology Ministry’s press service reporting.
“On July 27, 2021, at 22:30, employees of the Zaisan-Ertis interregional basin inspection of fisheries of the Fisheries Committee of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources detained a man on the Irtysh river, Pavlodar region on the Belaya channel, engaged in illegal fishing with nets on the Kazanka boat with the Vikhr-25 outboard motor.
During the inspection of the vessel, sturgeon fish were found, of which 1 Siberian sturgeon weighing 4 kg and 14 sterlet with a total weight of 8.8 kg. Damage to fish resources amounts to 3,469,771 tenge,” the ministry said.
Article 339 of the Penal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Illegal treatment of rare and endangered species, as well as prohibited plant or animal species, their parts or derivatives) provides for liability in the form of a prison term of three to seven years.
The police was called to the place of the offense.
This fact is under the control of the Fisheries Committee.
