Child died of CCHF in Zhambyl rgn
A ten-year-old girl died of Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) in Baizak district of Zhambyl region, 24.kz reports.
The child, a citizen of Uzbekistan, was taken to hospital in serious condition. According to the local public health department, the girl arrived in the region already infected.
As noted, since the beginning of the year, 481 cases of tick bites have been recorded in the region. Specialists have collected more than 38 thousand samples of the dangerous parasites. Of these, in 109 samples a hemorrhagic fever virus was found. So far, no cases of CCHF have been recorded in the region.
“Last year, we had 9 confirmed cases of CCHF in the region and 1 death in Sarysu district. An elderly person with many chronic diseases turned for help late and could not be saved,” said the deputy head of Zhambyl region’s public health department, Kumisbek Rakhimov.
