Assailant on police and NSC departments in Almaty named

During the operative Security Council meeting chaired by the President, the heads of the National Security Committee and of the Interior Ministry named the Almaty assailant, Kazpravda.kz reports.
In particular, the Interior Minister Kalmukhanbet Kasymov said that the second arrested man, who was thought to be an accomplice, appeared to be the assailant’s hostage.
The offender ran out of the police station after firing, stopped the car and forced its driver to go towards Baizakov street, firing on the way at the patrol cars pursuing him. Driving up to the NSC building, he came out of the car, fired at another patrol car, wounding another two policemen. Seizing the opportunity, the driver fled from the scene and was later found by the police, Kalmukhanbet Kasymov reported.
The attacker is a native of Kyzylorda region Ruslan Kulikbaev,1990 y.b, who on the night before the attack had murdered a woman, a citizen of Uzbekistan. He was previously convicted for robbery with violence, then for illegal acquisition and possession of firearms, the NSC chairman Vladimir Zhumakanov said.
