Tax free to be launched in Kazakhstan

Due to the introduction of the Tax free system, it is planned to additionally attract about 300 thousand foreign tourists a year to Kazakhstan. This was reported in the National company Kazakh Tourism, Inform.kz reports.
At the international tourism exhibition of the Asia-Pacific region PATA Travel Mart 2019, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "NC "Kazakh Tourism" Yerkebulan Khasenov spoke about the benefits of introducing the system and the percentage of tax refund to tourists. According to him, the start of the pilot project is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.
It was previously assumed that the introduction of the Tax free system according to the state program for development of the tourism industry until 2025 will begin in 2022.
"The system of tax refunds is valid in all developed tourist destinations. According to statistics, introduction of Tax free in many countries helps to increase not only trade, but also the flow of tourists. Due to this measure, it is planned to additionally attract about 300 thousand foreign tourists a year to Kazakhstan. In general, the expected economic effect of the Tax free system in the country is 198 billion tenge until 2025," said Yerkebulan Khasenov.
As the testing base for the project, the shopping center "Esentai Mall", located in Almaty, was chosen. As for the percentage of refund to tourists, the final decision on it will be made by one of the companies for the VAT refund to pay tax free in Kazakhstan. The percentage will vary depending on the bank, brand and operator. Guests of the city will be given the opportunity to receive a refund within three months after arrival in the country.
