On October 18, in Washington, as part of the annual meetings of the board of directors of the World Bank and IMF groups, the Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, Bakhyt Sultanov, held a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, Kazpravda.kz reports citing the press service of the ministry.
The meeting was held as part of the meeting of the High Level Group on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United States, the creation of which was initiated by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elbasy, during his visit in January 2018.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of domestic and foreign trade, export of goods and services, implementation of commercial and investment projects, joint projects with Tyson Foods, financial support for joint projects (AIFC), on sanctions policy, intellectual property and electronic commerce, as well as cooperation in the framework of the WTO and OECD.
The United States of America is one of the main strategic partners of Kazakhstan. The volume of trade between our countries in 2018 increased by 36% compared to the previous year and amounted to $ 2.2 billion.
According to the results of 8 months of 2019, trade between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United States amounted to $ 1.4 billion, while retaining data for the same period of the previous year.
To further develop trade and economic cooperation and maintain its high positive dynamics, it was proposed to continue joint work to expand the range of goods and services supplied, and establish direct contacts between business circles.
The Kazakh side proposed to improve the positive trend in mutual trade by increasing the export of Kazakhstani products to the United States by more than $ 802.1 million for 50 commodity items.
