The Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov accounted on food prices growth, Kazpravda.kz reports.
"Since the beginning of this year, prices for socially significant foods have grown by 4.8%. This growth is lower than the 5.5% figure recorded in January-April of the previous year, nevertheless, in April this year, prices went 1.7% up," Sultanov accounted.
The largest price rise - by 6.8% - is recorded in Atyrau region, Nur-Sultan - by 6.3% and Shymkent - by 5.6%. The smallest price increase was recorded in Almaty region - by 4%, in Karaganda region - by 4.3% and in Kyzylorda region - by 4.4%.
"Most of all import-dependent products have risen in price - sugar, buckwheat groats, goods with high export demand - sunflower oil, as well as vegetables, for which prices traditionally rise in the off-season. Grown storage costs and reduced inventory led to increased vegetable imports, "the minister added.
At the same time, he went on to say, rise in prices was recorded in all countries of the world.
“It should be noted that, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the average price increase for four months amounted to 11.4%. We can say that measures have been taken to prevent an unreasonable rise in prices for socially important goods in the country. This is the result of the measures taken, in particular the Roadmap to contain prices for socially important goods, approved at the Government meeting. The rest of the events are of a systemic nature and will be implemented by the end of this year, "Sultanov concluded.
