Mamin discussed investment projects with EDB chairman
Prime Minister Askar Mamin received Board Chairman of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) Nikolai Podguzov, Kazpravda.kz refers to the press service of the head of Kazakhstan Government reporting.
The meeting discussed preliminary results of the EDB's activities in 2020 and the prospects for the Bank's work, including the implementation of investment projects in Kazakhstan.
Over the 9 months of this year, the EDB took part in financing projects in Kazakhstan in the sum of $ 314 million, by the end of the year this figure is planned to be brought to $ 335 million. One of the major projects involving EDB investments in Kazakhstan this year was the construction of new international airport in Turkestan and the project "Construction and operation of the BARR highway.
The total volume of projects in Kazakhstan in the Bank's portfolio at the end of 2020 is projected at $ 1.5 billion. In the sectoral structure of the investment portfolio, the largest share is taken up by projects in the energy sector (20%), transport (20%), mining industry (23%), mechanical engineering (5%), financial sector (5%).
The Kazakh PM noted the importance of the EDB's participation in promising projects in agribusiness, industry, transport, energy and other Kazakhstan economy sectors. He also pointed out the need to focus efforts on financing large infrastructure projects and on pre-project activities.
Functioning of the EDB Digital Initiatives Fund, created in June 2020 was another topic covered, as well as the outlook for the Bank's participation in Kazakhstan-Russia Cross-Border Cooperation Program.
Preparations were mulled for the forthcoming First Eurasian Congress in December this year, the central event of which will be the plenary session of the heads of government of the EAEU countries "Economic pragmatism and mutual benefit as the basis of Eurasian economic integration."
