Kazakhstan fertilizer producers retained Ukrainian market
Ukraine completed protective investigations regarding the import of fertilizers without application of measures, Kazpravda.kz refers to the press service of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan reporting.
The Ministry noted that the Ukrainia is one of the main sales markets for fertilizers produced by Kazakhstan companies Kazphosphate LLP and KazAzot JSC.
"The average annual export of mineral fertilizers from Kazakhstan to Ukraine is 110 000 tons worth about $41 million. The closure of such a market could have had a very negative impact on domestic enterprises. Throughout the investigation period, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan worked closely with the authorized body of Ukraine, representing the interests of Kazakhstani factories, "the report says.
At the initiative of Kazakhstan’s Trade Ministry, the issue of providing quotas for Kazakhstan fertilizer producers or of removing Kazakhstan goods from the action of the measure was considered. Kazakhstan did not exclude the possibility of challenging the decision of the authorized body of Ukraine in court. Anyway, due to the situation in the Ukrainian industry and other factors the protective measures were not taken after all.
As a result of the work accomplished, Kazakhstan companies will be able to continue exporting to the traditional sales market, the press service concluded.
