Bread might be rationed out in Kazakhstan due to possible price increase on it
Subsistence minimum can be changed too.
Citizens, whose living standard will decline due to possible increase in the price of bread, can expect targeted social assistance, Kazpravda.kz reports, citing the RK Health and Social Development Ministry.
According to the Agriculture Ministry, the price of bread in Kazakhstan could rise from 1 January 2016. The Ministry proposed options for selling social bread to pensioners and other vulnerable groups, including rationing of the bread (giving it out on cards).
Currently the social support is given to individuals / families with incomes below the poverty line in accordance with the RK Law "On state social assistance." It is provided in the form of money - 40% of the minimum subsistence level for each family member.
In addition, under the signed in late October amendments to the legislation on social protection, from 1 January 2018 a new framework for targeted social assistance is envisioned to families with incomes below 50% of the subsistence minimum for each family member on the condition of mandatory participation of able-bodied family members in active employment promoting measures.
Besides, from November 3, subsistence minimum level increased in the country and is now 21,226 tenge.
As of October 1, 2015, 34.7 thousand people are TSA recipients.
