Kazakh PM Karim Massimov studied the state of historical and cultural attractions of the South Kazakhstan region, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to pm.kz site.
In particular, the prime minister was told about the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yassavi and about Otrar state archaeological reserve-museum, in the territory of which there is the Arystan Baba mausoleum.
"Turkestan is considered the cultural capital of Kazakhstan. Last year the region was visited by over a million tourists. Now SKR is actively implementing a new project to promote tourism with the center of cultural and historical tourism in Turkestan. For these purposes, in accordance with the objectives of the program "Cultural heritage", the concept of "Kone Turkistan" program was developed and adopted. Within its framework, it is planned to carry out restoration and conservation works on the territory of the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yassavi. The houses, located in the protected area of the mausoleum will be used for tourist services. The concept is designed in three phases," - said in a statement.
